AS: Hair

Finally a pagus. Actually I started the under painting a month ago. I was going to do the whole thing in oils, but then I got lazy and finished up in acrylic ink. this was all just an excuse to feed my obsession to draw a lot of lines.

ah it's been 2 mos without an update! here's a double dip I did. J TO THE WEST-SAIIIIDE! This was in response to a prompt from an art meme I did. I'll do an actual scene from Journey to the West later (tho I don't doubt there were gaseous emissions from Sun Wu Kong's backside. numerous ones).

I started out drawing this jokingly cos I didn't really know what I wanted to do, during the stage of sketching out figures and googling all the epic Journey to the West pictures. There are some REALLY nice ones I found, but I don't know who drew some of them.

Nod Young Monkey cutout

There are a couple other papercuts this guy did, and he does much more. There's a bunch more illustrations, graphic design, product designs on his flickr.

^Wish the book I borrowed had these illustrations in them

and the collab between the Théâtre du Châtelet, Chen Shi-Zheng, & Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett! I really want to see this, or at the very least, listen to the music they've created for it.

filling up this lonely blog. to random ppl who is reading this, Ariyana is busy with school. so, it'll be just me posting for a while. we're really snails.

I just decided to call this finished because I was starting to muck around, and pictures always look different on my laptop than on the comp so I'm reserving my final feelings abt this until I see it on a desktop.. I'm pretty much happy with her legs because, HARD SHADOW! then I got scared around her face.

there finally have something to upload

coloring pretty much killed me as always..SLOWLYSLlooowly

I tried to go for airbrush coloring but everything started to look fake and plasticky so I got rid of the sunset background and most of the plane detail on her face. For my next try I'll prob for really try to color.

finally finished coloring it!!!! it's cleaner than what i usually do, but i got lazy towards the end
and maybe i'll always be a little sloppy when i digitally color. i can't keep track of my layers,
the background is a little cheesy too, but oh well, maybe i'll fix it later.....
probably not.

text says my cousin's name, yi1 xuan2 (or 3). I like this one cos it's the first time I paid attn to most of the lines & made them relatively clean and neat instead of haphazardly slashing and erasing. when my mom saw this she couldn't believe I drew it. I don't know if I should be happy or offended. :P I like the goggles cos they look like batteries or pills and they make me feel good looking at them. (the drawing) there's something comforting about clearcut structure with hard edges. they carve definitely into space, they exist without compromise cos they don't bend or mold. I feel like they're more there than the rest of the drawing. but, what this is prob all indicative of is that I should practice shading with color more.
